In 1982 (not 1986 as previously stated!), after having settled in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, Les Clefs d’Or Canada were eager and motivated to continue their progression across the country and were extremely happy to welcome their first Member from the city of Vancouver, Ms. Evelyne Rothig, Chef-Concierge at the Four Seasons Vancouver!
In 1984, the newly formed Montreal Region, then known as the Quebec Region, elected it’s first ever Regional President, Mr. Manny Cheng, who was Chef-Concierge at the Four Seasons Hotel Montreal.
1983 marked the first expansion of Les Clefs d’Or Canada outside of Toronto when the Quebec Province (In fact, the city of Montréal), became the 2nd Region of our association. Continue Reading
Mr. Herb Goldring, former Chef-Concierge at the Park Plaza Toronto, was one of the six founding concierges of Les Clefs d’Or Canada’s association in 1975. He organized the very first meeting in Toronto.
When Canada became the 18th Section of Les Clefs d’Or – UICH in 1976, Mr. Goldring had been appointed as the first President of Les Clefs d’Or Canada.
In 1978, Herb Goldring became our first Elected President. He held that position until 1985.
1977: Not much more than a year after its creation, this new Hotel Concierges association, Les Clefs d’Or Canada, had already grown to 20 members. 18 Members were from Toronto but the expansion to the East had already started with one member, Mr. Denis Laganierre, Chef concierge at the Ritz-Carlton Montreal, being from Montreal, while Mr. Joe Wilson, from the Westbury in London, was an Honorary Member.
