
Today, April 12th 2020, marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary Terry Fox’ Marathon Of Hope. Les Clefs d’Or Canada Concierges are proud to have participated and contributed $244,899.00 to the success of The Terry fox Run for the past 15 years.
Concierges from four regions of Les Clefs d’Or Canada raised $21361 for cancer research and they ran and/or walked up to 10Km as they took part in the 2019 Terry Fox Run.
The Terry Fox Run is a National event for Les Clefs d’Or Canada and it is one of the most reputable charities in Canada. The Concierges have participated for 15 years in a row now and have raised a total of $244,899!
In the Montreal Region, 9 concierges, led by captain Lara Grafin, collected $9375, breaking their previous record from last year. The Montreal team participated in the race/walk at the famous Old Port of Montreal for what was a beautiful, sunny day in Montreal. The team then gathered at nearby Escondite Restaurant for well deserved tacos and Mexican beer!
Team members included Julie Smith, Alain Ethier, Marie-Ève Dessureault, Caroline Chevalier, Tara Diamond, Carole-Anne Lainé, Michael Koopman and William Chev.
In the BC Region, 15 Concierges walked and ran to raise $5780. Led by their captain, Carla Sikorski, she was joined by Sheron Empey, David Reid, Diane Dillon, Salima Jiwan, Sue Yoon, Dillon Carfoot, Benjamin Menard, Jordan Ongtangco, Risa Miyake, Rodolfo Parra, Yuki Fournier, Duane Lachance, Gerardo Landaverde and Ivonne Camacho. The walk and run took place at Stanley Park.
In the Ontario Region, under Captain Marie-Ève Balla‘s leadership, Xavier Guidis, Irene Paterson, Dean Voon, Amy Collier, Julie Davey and Ashley Irving united their efforts to collect $3051 and many other members joined in to walk and/or run at Ward’s Island.
The Alberta Region raised $3155. for cancer research. The team Captain, Jill Marven, was helped by Jean-Christophe Lavoie, Cindy Stewart, Kristi McClintock, Eric Fowler, Maxime Lapalme, Dawn Barcham, Moustafa Madany, Kyle Boichat, Nella Mirante, Mason Desaulniers.
The day was a great success and everyone had a good time.
The $1000 Superstar Fundraisers Board:
- Julie Smith, Montreal, $5200.
Julie was third biggest fundraiser in the province of Quebec according to the Terry Fox Foundation! - Alain Ethier, Montreal, $1550;
- Jean-Christophe Lavoie, Alberta, $1425;
- Sheron Empey, BC, $1425;
- Xavier Guidis, Ontario, $1051.
The Les Clefs d’Or Canada association is proud of its Members, aspiring members and Concierge colleagues who participated in one way or another to the success of the Terry Fox Run across Canada, year after year.
