My name is Jeffrey Cobrana, I’m the concierge at the Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel. I would like to share my first congress experience from our 11th National Congress in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
On May 7th 2017, I travelled from Calgary to Niagara Falls to attend the Les Clefs d’Or 11th National Congress. I was excited to meet all of the passionate concierges from across the country to network and learn from each other’s experiences and best practices. As I have been told by my fellow concierges, it’s an event to remember! There were lots of surprises from the very first day, from the opening reception by Hornblower Cruises to the garden party gala at the Ravine Vineyards.
One of the highlights of the congress for me was the educational day presentation from Mr. Trevor Botkin who contributed to the association’s brand awareness. Mr. Botkin had researched and recommended strategies to improve the brand image of Les Clefs d’Or and was made an Honorary International Member of Les Clefs d’Or – UICH by our President, Ms. Carolina Avaria.
Throughout the congress, I noticed everyone was so passionate about being a concierge. Each individual had a story to share. Some were about successes and some about learning experience but there was always something to learn from one another. Attending the 11th National Congress has reminded me why I’m a concierge. I have the passion to make a difference in the lives of others and to let them know that here in Alberta, we are the best in the west!
I would like to personally thank my Regional Board, for giving me a wonderful experience by sponsoring me to attend the congress, and all of my colleagues for their support.
Vive Les Clefs d’Or!

Editor’s note: The Niagara 2017 Les Clefs d’Or Canada 11th National Congress, held from May 7th to 10th, reunited about 100 concierges from Canada and some from the USA for networking, educational and cultural experience purpuses. It also hosted the Annual General Meeting of the association’s Members, where elections were held, Officers presented their annual reports and bylaws were reviewed, as well as the National Board Meeting of the association’s Officers.
