On Friday, August 26th 2016, the 11th Annual Tourism Industry Partners (TIP) Golf Tournament at Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, for the future generations of tourism professionals was, once again, a great success . There were 104 golfers, 20 BC Les Clefs d’Or Members & aspiring members and 11 student volunteers participating this year.

Ms. Sheron Empey’s (Board Member) briefing volunteers on schedules.

Mr. Phil Barnes (Board Director) greeting BC Les Clefs d’Or Members.
All the players, volunteers & students began the day with a delicious breakfast on the beautiful patio at Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
The players were greeted by the Concierges who also tagged the individual golf bags & sent them on the course. Nothing like the previous year’s inclement weather; this year, it was a gorgeous, hot, sunny day!
The tournament opened up with a delightful speech from the TIP Board of Directors Mr. James Terry & Mr. Philip Barnes at the Golf Clubhouse.
The shotgun start begins the day and the players are having fun for the 18 holes of Texas Scramble.
Thanks to all the players for great poses at the BC Les Clefs d’Or Social Media Hole #3. They were all creative and fun poses!
After the fun game day, the celebratory dinner & networking happened at the ballroom at Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The silent auction & cocktails started, followed by a fabulous buffet style dinner.
All the winning teams were announced and then, 9 students received scholarship cheques for the amount of $2,300 each, from Tourism Industry Partnership Charity. The golf winners and students who received support from TIP seemed very happy and we also spotted a few students who were tearing up!
It was a great memory for everyone who attended as a volunteer. BC Les Clefs d’Or members will certainly be at next year’s TIP Golf Tournament.
A special thanks to Ms. Miriam Edward, Ms. Sheron Empey & Ms. Joanne Lewandowski who put in a lot of efforts to organize the event & make it successful again this year. Cheers to everyone!
