I am so excited to be a part of the launch of the National Blog! I look forward to sharing the activities and successes of the Alberta Region !
2014 was a busy and successful year! Our Annual Golf Tournament held at the Banff Springs Hotel, raising funds for the Bow Valley victims, was our most important event of the summer. I’m happy to announce that we raised $5000! A shout-out to our key organizers: Don Mooney (Chef-Concierge, Fairmont Banff Springs), Rory Zolob (Concierge, Fairmont Banff Springs), Michael Lombardi (Gold Floor Concierge, Fairmont Banff Springs) and to all the members who assisted throughout the planning and collecting of prizes! With 140 players, we were successful with this tournament, with the help of our amazing sponsors: TITLE SPONSOR: The Maple Leaf (Banff), PLATINUM SPONSORS: Vintage Group and Oxford Development (Calgary).
Our Capital City Edmonton hosted an event in July 2014. Thank you to Calan Hobbs (Concierge, Fairmont MacDonald) who created an amazing FAM tour for our Regional Board and Members to visit one of the largest malls in the world, West Edmonton Mall. This mall is not just a shopping centre, it is an experience for tourists and locals. We visited the largest indoor water park and slides and the only indoor Zip Line in the world, and YES! we all got toggled in and zipped over the water filled with people! We were able to interact with the penguins and learn about their behaviors and the centre’s daily programs for people who are interested in marine life/biology.
We then toured the mall and had some fun in Galaxyland, where we engaged in some battles of games and fun ! Thank you to THE PARLOUR KITCHEN and BAR for hosting our dinner with an amazing tasting of appetizers and specialty pizzas, created by a pizziaolo right from Napoli, Italy. We are so excited that Edmonton is making an impact by educating and showcasing our organization to the downtown core hotels. Thank you to Westin, Fairmont MacDonald, Sutton Place and Chateau Lacombe for their support…and it will keep growing!
Our fundraising was a hit this past summer! We are so excited to share that we exceeded our goal by $500 dollars. We raised for the Terry Fox Run in the amount of $2000.00. Our fabulous team made of Cindy Stewart (Regional Secretary, Concierge, Westin Calgary), Jill Marven (Concierge, Le Germain) and Eddie Butin (Corporate Concierge, Oxford Developments).
The Key presentations were just completed at the Delta Kananaskis, thank you to Don Bowden for hosting once again! We were spoiled with an array of presentations from 5 concierges: Phoebe White (Concierge, Fairmont Gold Floor), Patty Bohan (Regional Secretary, Concierge, Sheraton Eau Claire Calgary), Krista Repp (Concierge, Westin Calgary), Eddie Butin (Corporate Concierge, Oxford Developments) with their quest to have these golden keys pinned on their lapels in November.
We have soared with social media….our facebook page has increased to 522 likes! Our goal is to reach 1000 likes by the Whistler Congress! Our twitter feed has increased from 249 followers in February 2014 to currently 1043 followers and with 1700 tweets! This has stirred up much awareness with Travel Alberta, Edmonton Tourism and Calgary Tourism with the amount of information shared with our followers. I was recognized with Travel Alberta for all the tweets and sharing of information about our fabulous province. I was personally invited to attend the Travel Alberta’s event, “Celebrate Alberta Stories” held in September. I was able to connect with some amazing people with Banff/Lake Louise Tourism, Calgary Tourism, Canmore and Kananaskis Tourism , Edmonton Tourism , Tourism Jasper.
